I had the opportunity of riding a roller coaster for the first time with my dad when I was nine years old. As soon as we rolled at a higher speed, I began to yell “Stop! I want to get off”. Of course, I was yelling, but the roller coaster didn’t stop. Knowing fully I didn’t listen, too, I held on to my dad in fear for the rest of the ride. The same we experience in our journey here on earth. There are times when life can feel like a roller coaster ride with a higher level of speed that we didn’t see coming. Our Bible text urges us to place our trust in God when we are faced with these life difficulties. So how to trust God in difficult times?

Trust in the Slow Work of God
Passing through difficulties in life is one thing that must happen to a human being. It is what we make of that situation that defines who we are. That is the reason for the general proverbs that says when life gives you lemons, make lemonade. This is a phrase to encourage you in times of difficulties and to stay perfect in Gods peace.
God has promised us in his words that there are no challenges that will come to us which can be beyond our control. Knowing we have the presence of the most right beside us is an assurance that we would overcome.
So, beloved, that which you are faced with is a situation that would soon be over, do not be troubled. Rather than being troubled, go to God in prayer, sing praises with a heart of thanksgiving and leave the rest to God. God is always in charge.
The peace which the Lord gives us transcends all understanding. It is beyond expression. We need to get rid of the fear that so much envelopes our heart that we forget the presence of God. When you carry the presence of God all around you, then you will trust him enough to take charge of your life. Remember that life would always be faced with its difficulties but our Lord Jesus who loves us, his children more than life is greater than them all.

O Lord, help me to trust you in difficult times that I may enjoy your peace daily. Sometimes I want your answer and help come right now. But I know that you have planned for me and know better when and in what way to help me, so I trust in slow work of God. In Jesus name. Amen.
